Seattle University volleyball suffered a 25-21, 19-25, 17-25, 19-25 setback to Princeton Thursday in the opening match of the Rutgers Invitational.

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - (Sept. 15) The Redhawks (5-6) led wire-to-wire to win set one 25-21. Hitting .344 with 15 kills to go with just four errors on 32 attempts, SU led by as many as six points along the way.

Struggle ensued in the next two sets as SU hit .108 in set two and .111 in set three as Princeton pulled ahead, two sets to one.

Despite rebounding in the fourth set to hit a solid .259, the Redhawks could not force a fifth set.

Matea Mamic led SU with with 16 kills and nine digs. Kory White had eight kills and six block assists while Iris Ivanis had 19 digs.

Princeton (4-3) was led by Devon Peterkin and Maggie O’Connell who had 13 and 12 kills, respectively.

Seattle U returns to action Friday, facing Seton Hall at 10 a.m. Eastern, 7 a.m. Pacific, followed by host Rutgers at 6:30 p.m. Eastern, 3:30 p.m. Pacific.
