SEATTLE - (Sept. 8) Back-to-back weeks of travel across the country begins this weekend for the Seattle University volleyball team. The Redhawks head to Orlando for the Holiday Inn Orlando East UCF Area Classic, beginning Friday, Sept. 9 with a match-up against LSU. On Saturday, SU faces FAU before closing out the weekend with a Sunday match against tournament host UCF.

ABOUT THE REDHAWKS
• Seattle U went 2-2 in a busy home stand last week. The two wins came against Idaho and Villanova.
Matea Mamic leads the WAC, and is ranked No. 44 nationally with 4.20 kills per set. The senior outside hitter also ranks in the nation’s top 50 in total kills (105, No. 37), total attacks (289, No. 34) and points (113.5, No. 46).
Iris Ivanis is averaging 4.48 dos while Maja Stojanovic and Kory White both average more than a block per game - 1.23 and 1.08, respectively.
Matea Mamic and Maja Stojanovic were named to the All-Tournament Team of the Ultra Ankle Challenge.
• Seattle U was selected third in the 2016 Western Athletic Conference preseason poll.
• 2015 All-WAC selection Matea Mamic was voted to the 14-member Preseason All-WAC Team.
• Head Coach James Finley enters his fourth year at the helm of the program. Under Finley in 2015, the Redhawks had their best season yet, going 18-11 overall and 9-5 in WAC play.
• SU returns seven letterwinners, including four starters.
• The 2016 SU roster has true international flavor as six different countries are represented on the 14-member squad. That includes the United State (five different states), Canada (three different provinces), Serbia, Croatia and Peru.

ABOUT THE TIGERS (2-4)
LSU enters the weekend at 2-4 overall with wins over Eastern Kentucky and NC Greensboro. Three players currently average two or more kills per set including Tiara Gibson (2.23), Katie Kampen (2.71) and Gina Tillis (2.00). The Tigers have hit at a .201 clip while opponents have hit at a .215 average. LSU is averaging 1.77 bps, just above their opponents’ 1.64 per set.

This marks the first meeting between SU and LSU.

ABOUT THE OWLS (4-3)
Florida Atlantic is 4-3 on the season after sweeping a trio of matches at the USF Tournament last week. Maja Ristic leads the team with 3.76 kps. Sigourney Kame adds 2.96 kps and Abbi Reid averages 2.53 kps. The Owls hit at a .211 averages while holding opponents to just a .167 average.

This marks the first meeting between SU and Florida Atlantic.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS (5-2)
UCF is 5-2 entering the week and will face Florida Atlantic and LSU prior to meeting SU on Sunday. The Knights are riding a two-match win streak and are 3-1 at home so far this season. Jale Hervey leads UCF with 3.72 kps and also adds 3.08 dps. Taylor Gallart contributes 2.48 kps and Ann Richards adds 2.20 kps. Setters Miranda Watkins and Farah Rajaee combine for 13.76 aps and collectively, UCF tallies 1.64 bps.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UCF
The Redhawks and Knights met for the first time in program history on Sept. 17, 2015, a match resulting in a 3-1 SU win. Seattle U won sets one, three and four as Matea Mamic had 14 kills and Martina Samadan added 10.
