SEATTLE - (Aug. 29) After opening the 2016 season on the road, the Seattle University fall sports teams make their way back home to Seattle for an exciting stretch of home events beginning Thursday.

Before a single team hits its home hardwood or pitch, the SU Athletics Department will officially celebrate the renovation of the Connolly Complex. Fans are invited and encouraged to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday Sept. 1 prior to SU volleyball hosting crosstown rival Washington at 7 p.m. Led by University President Stephen Sundborg, S.J., the ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m.

Thursday’s volleyball match is also Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night. All SU facility and staff in attendance will be recognized during the match, while a limited number of free t-shirts will be distributed to early arrivers. As always, SU faculty and staff receive free admission to the match with a valid SU-ID.

The action continues all weekend as volleyball hosts Idaho on Friday at 7 p.m. and Villanova on Sunday at 1 p.m. Idaho and Villanova will also play a neutral site match on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Women’s soccer returns to Seattle from a three-game road swing to open the season. The Redhawks face Portland on UW’s Husky Soccer Stadium on Friday as part of the Husky Nike Invitational. Kick off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The Redhawks then make their Championship Field debut on Monday, Sept. 5, hosting the Huskies at 7 p.m.
