SEATTLE - (Aug. 25) Coming off a huge 1-0 season-opening victory at Texas, the Seattle University women’s soccer team travels to Boise, Idaho, this weekend for a pair of games as past of the Boise State Tournament. The Redhawks will face the host Broncos on Friday, Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. Pacific. On Sunday, Aug. 28, action wraps up as SU takes on San Jose State at 10 a.m. Pacific.

ABOUT THE REDHAWKS
• Seattle U opened the 2016 season with a 1-0 shutout at Texas. Senior transfer Brie Hooks scored the game-winning goal in the 17th minute off an assist from Jennifer Plummer.
Stephanie Spiekerman was named WAC Defensive of the Week after playing the entire 90 minutes in the 1-0 shutout win against Texas as a center back. She held down the SU backline, limiting Texas to just one shot on goal despite 17 total attempts.
• The Redhawks begin this season as the co-favorite to finish atop the Western Athletic Conference standings in a preseason vote of the league’s eight head coaches.
• Three players were also named to the 11-member Preseason All-WAC Team, including sophomore forward Kari White, redshirt sophomore midfielder Isabelle Butterfield and junior defender Stephanie Spiekerman.
• Seattle U went 14-3-3 overall and 8-0-2 in WAC play in 2015, claiming the 2015 regular-season title before falling to UVU in the championship match of the WAC Tournament.
• The Redhawks return six starters from last year’s squad, along with a pair of key players from the 2014 lineup who redshirted last fall and senior transfer Brie Hooks who was the University of Colorado Female Athlete of the Year and an All-Pac-12 Second Team selection in 2014.

SERIES HISTORY VS BOISE STATE
Since the 2008 season, Seattle U holds a 3-2-0 record against the Broncos. The teams last met on Aug. 30, 2013 as the Redhawks earned a 2-1 overtime victory on Championship Field.

SERIES HISTORY VS SAN JOSE STATE
Seattle U will be going for its first win against the Spartans this weekend as they are 0-1-1 in the series history. The last meeting, a 2-1 victory for SJSU, was on Oct. 14, 2012 in San Jose, Calif.
