Head softball coach Geoff Hirai

1) What’s your favorite summertime activity in general? Playing outside with my kids.

2) What’s your favorite Seattle-specific summertime activity? Playing outside with my kids.

3) What’s your favorite thing to grill (or have grilled for you) in the summer? Steak.

4) How about a side dish? White rice.

5) What was your favorite summer memory from childhood? All Sports Day with my friends and brothers. We would play volleyball, whiffle ball, and basketball almost every day in the summer when I was growing up.

6) If you could go on a camping trip with 3 people (living or deceased), who would you choose? Ken Griffey Jr. because he is my favorite player ever. Gordon Ramsey because we would have amazing food and it would be cool to pick his brain. Jim Valvano (Old NC State basketball coach) because he would have some great stories and keep us entertained, and also to pick his brain about coaching.

7) What song will be on repeat this summer? Any of the songs that my players would listen to because they only listen to 5 songs and they all sound alike…

8) What’s your favorite part about SU in the summer? Recruiting and family time.

9) Is there a certain place you love to go in the summer? Anywhere family is around.

10) What are you most excited for this fall when students are back on campus? Getting to work and preparing to “Being the First”.
