Seattle University athletics announces that Sarah Finney has been named Director of Athletics Communications, effective Monday.

Finney comes to Seattle from Loyola Marymount University where she served as Communications Manager since 2011 with primary sports including women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, and men’s and women’s cross country and track.

While at LMU, she led the external planning efforts including communications, messaging, marketing and promotions related to the above sports, as well as the department’s social media presence. She also served as a liaison with media representatives, trained and supervised staff, and contributed to all LMU digital platforms.

Prior to her time in Los Angeles, Finney served as Assistant Executive Director of Communications and Championships at the Ivy League (2010-11). While in Princeton, NJ, Finney was the primary contact for 11 of the league’s 33 sports, assisting with coordination and execution of league championships, and co-developing the league’s social media platforms.

Finney also served as Assistant Sports Information Director at CSU Bakersfield (2007-10) and Humboldt State University (2003-07).

She is a 2003 graduate of Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif. where she received a B.A. in Journalism and was a member of the women’s soccer team. Finney has been a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) member since 2003 and a CoSIDA Academic All-America® district coordinator since 2009.
