As announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) today, Seattle University men’s soccer’s David Olsen (Auburn, Wash.) and Kyle Bjornethun (Snohomish, Wash.) have been named to the Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List.
Of the 28 men’s players on this year’s Watch List, Olsen is one of just four who were semifinalists in last year’s trophy campaign. Olsen and Bjornethun are two of 12 who earned 2015 NSCAA All-America accolades.
The lists of men’s and women’s players named to the Watch List were chosen by the NSCAA Men’s and Women’s NCAA DI All-America committees based on analyzing All-Americans and All-Region honorees, as well as significant newcomers.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious award in college soccer, presented annually to one female and one male athlete. The winners will be announced in a trophy presentation banquet on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
Near the end of the regular season, NCAA Division I coaches who are current NSCAA College Services members will vote and narrow down the list to 15 semifinalists for men’s and women’s programs. From the pool of 30, six finalists (three men, three women) will be chosen for the award before the winner is announced in January.
