Opening with a home exhibition vs. British Columbia on Aug. 14, the Redhawks travel to Akron, Ohio where they will face West Virginia (Aug. 26) and host Akron (Aug. 28) to close the month of August. SU continues their tough opening road schedule at Gonzaga (Sept. 4) and with a return trip to Harvard (Sept. 8) and Dartmouth (Sept. 11) after the pair of Ivy League powers visited Seattle last season.
The regular season home schedule opens with matches vs. College of Charleston (Sept. 16) and Davidson (Sept. 18) and the Redhawks close their non-conference schedule with the annual crosstown rivalry vs. Washington, this year less than five miles up the road from Capitol Hill at Husky Soccer Stadium. In 2015, SU won game four of an eventual seven-game win streak with an exciting 2-1 victory over the then-No. 10 Huskies at Championship Field, helping propel the Redhawks to a national ranking which they would keep for the remainder of the season.
Seattle U starts Western Athletic Conference play at home on Sept. 30 in a rematch of last season’s conference title game vs. Utah Valley, the team which will also host this year’s league tournament (Nov. 10-13). The Redhawks also host Houston Baptist (Oct. 8), Grand Canyon (Oct. 16), UTRGV (Oct. 23), and UNLV (Oct. 27) throughout the conference season while traveling to CSU Bakersfield (Oct. 2), San Jose State (Oct. 6), UMKC (Oct. 14), Incarnate Word (Oct. 21), and Air Force (Nov. 5).
The winner of the WAC postseason tournament will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, which SU has earned two of the last three years. The Redhawks have not only earned a spot in the NCAA tournament but advanced each year they’ve appeared.
