The sophomore left-hander struck out a career high-tying nine batters in eight scoreless innings on Friday, an eventual 3-0 win for the Redhawks to stay in contention for the title. He allowed just two hits and walked one batter in the victory, finishing the regular season with a 7-2 record. His 1.89 season ERA is good for 22nd nationally while only 29 pitchers in the nation allow fewer hits per nine innings than Meservey.
Seattle U enters this week’s WAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed for the second straight season after winning their first regular season title. With a first day bye, the Redhawks start tournament play on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Mesa, Ariz. vs. the lowest remaining seed after day one.
