After earning the program’s first Western Athletic Conference individual titles earlier this spring, Seattle University women’s swimming’s Blaise Wittenauer Lee (Portland, Ore.) has qualified for Olympic trials. With the feat, she is only the second Seattle U swimmer in program history to qualify for Olympic trials.

“Blaise did a great job, swimming the race exactly the way she needed to,” said head coach Craig Nisgor. “We have only been training again for five weeks since our break after conference so for her to qualify at this point really is a great thing. Having another two months of training going into trials should set her up for a great meet in Omaha.”

Last weekend at the May Flowers meet in Federal Way, Wash., Wittenauer-Lee qualified for Olympic Trials in the 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 2:34.59, a best time by .58 seconds.

Olympic trials will be held June 26 through July 3 in Omaha, Neb. and the 200 breaststroke takes place on June 30. The qualifiers will compete for a chance to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this August.
