“Congrats to UMKC and good luck to them tomorrow in the finals,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “They played a great doubles point and really took it to us. We had to regroup for the singles, which we did. Every guy played his heart out and I couldn’t be prouder. We were right there in singles and battling on every court. This team faced a lot of adversity this year with injuries but stayed resilient and kept working and getting better.”
UMKC earned a pair of victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots to take the first point and followed up with three straight sets wins at No. 1, No. 6, and No. 4 singles, respectively, to clinch the win.
“I want to thank our seniors for all their efforts these past four years,” Reeb finished. “They’ve helped elevate our tennis program and overall it was a great year, one to build on for the future.”
The Redhawks tied their Division I single season wins record in 2015-16 and look to continue upward improvement next season.
