“It feels good to get our first WAC win tonight,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “We came out aggressive in doubles and carried that over into singles for the most part. We’re preaching committing to the style we want to play and that is our main focus this weekend. Tomorrow is another chance for us to do that and we look forward to that opportunity.”
The Redhawks captured the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots before the Cougars finished with a win at No. 3 doubles.
Heading into singles ahead, 1-0, Seattle U won three straight victories to seal the win with a 4-0 advantage. Despite Chicago State’s Marnie Perez-Ochoa winning the No. 4 singles match, SU finished with a pair of wins at No. 5 and No. 6 to defeat the Cougars, 6-1.
Seattle U continues weekend play in Chicago, Ill. vs. UTRGV on Saturday, Apr. 2 at 4 pm PT before capping the weekend vs. NM State on Sunday, Apr. 3 at 7 am PT.
