In a vote of the Western Athletic Conference women’s golf coaches, Seattle University women’s golf was picked to finish second at this week’s WAC Championships in Blaine, Wash. The Redhawks improved from sixth to third in their first two seasons in the WAC before finishing second last season, looking for their first WAC title in 2016.
Earning 29 points, Seattle U also garnered one first place vote while last year’s champion NM State was picked to win the title with five first place votes. UMKC earned one first place vote and 28 points and was picked to finish third while Utah Valley (20), CSU Bakersfield (15), UT Rio Grande Valley (14), and Chicago State (6) rounded out the poll.
The Redhawks are peaking at the right time as they won their first tournament of the season last week at Montana State’s Bobcat Spring Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz.
