Finishing day one tied with Wyoming for the lead, the Redhawks shot the second best round of the day as a team on Tuesday to win the title by one stroke. Defeating several other regional opponents, Seattle U also finished ahead of two Western Athletic Conference opponents in Utah Valley (7th) and CSU Bakersfield (13th), boding well leading up to the WAC tournament in two weeks.
Individually, Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) and Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) started the tournament in the top five and finished second and tied for third, respectively, finishing +4 and +5 over par. Song and Addicks finished just one and two strokes, respectively behind Northern Colorado’s Kala Keltz, the individual winner.
Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) also earned a top 10 finish for the Redhawks, tied for ninth place with Utah Valley’s Kalea Heu and CSU Northridge’s Cesilie Hagen. All five Redhawks finished 27th or higher among 98 participants.
This win marks Seattle U’s first tournament victory of the season and their fifth top five finish of 2015-16.
