Seattle University men’s tennis (8-14, 0-4 WAC) fell behind early after doubles play and Grand Canyon (12-6, 4-0 WAC) would earn six straight singles victories for the 7-0 win in Western Athletic Conference play.

“Grand Canyon is a very strong and deep team,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “We hung with them in spurts but overall they were just too tough today. I thought the guys did a good job sticking to their game plan and committing to coming forward when the opportunity was there. We’ll look to continue that commitment tomorrow morning vs. Chicago State and hope to finish WAC regular season play on a winning note.”

After the ‘Lopes had already clinched the match, Michael Schoettler (Tacoma, Wash.) and John Stormans (Olympia, Wash.) each took their opponent at No. 4 and No. 3 singles, respectively, to three sets but ultimately could not hold on to earn a team point.

The Redhawks close WAC regular season play vs. Chicago State at 9 am CT/7 am PT on Sunday, Apr. 10. They will return home for their regular season finale vs. Linfield (OR) on Saturday, Apr. 23 at 3 pm at the SU Tennis Courts before heading to the WAC Tournament in Edinburg, Texas the following weekend.
