“It was relieving and euphoric at the same time when I got my first doubles points,” said Lynch. “So much sacrifice, hard work, and dedication is finally paying off. I’m encouraged that my level of tennis is at a point where I can compete with some of the best guys in the world. I am grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me and the support I continue to receive from friends and family that have been behind me this entire journey. It also helped that my doubles partner was former No. 1 player Clay Thompson of UCLA. He is a tremendous player that is doing very well on the ATP circuit at the moment.”
Lynch and partner Clay Thompson recently earned their first ATP points in doubles, earning ranked status, while playing in an International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures Circuit Tournament.
“What a tremendous accomplishment for Kevin,” said current SU head coach Adam Reeb. “I had the pleasure of meeting him earlier this year and his love and passion for the game of tennis and SU is very evident. Seattle U is about the development of the whole person and being a platform for each student to achieve their goals and Kevin is pursuing that goal of playing professional tennis. We wish him all the best and will continue to follow his progress with eagerness and pride.”
The former SAAC president attributes much of his current success to his time spent at Seattle University reflecting “I am grateful and proud of my time at Seattle U. I had the best years of my life there being able to develop as a player and a person during my four years. My experience was special because I feel like the tennis team continued to develop significantly each year. There is so much potential for the tennis program at Seattle U to become very competitive and I am just happy I could be there during the ‘platform’ stages of the program. It’s the family-like atmosphere of Seattle U Athletics that differentiates us from other programs and makes me a proud alum. Go Hawks!”
