Women?s Golf Finishes in Top 10 at Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

The Redhawks finished ahead of fellow WAC schools Utah Valley and Grand Canyon.

Improving upon their scores in the final two rounds, Seattle University women’s golf finished in the top 10 at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz. The Redhawks had the highest finish among Western Athletic Conference competitors, finishing ahead of Utah Valley (13th) and Grand Canyon (17th).

Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) led the Redhawks, finishing T13th with a score of 221 (+5). Her best individual round was in round one, shooting on par (72), as she finished rounds two and three shooting 76 (+4) and 73 (+1), respectively.

Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) was the next highest finishing Redhawk, tied for 41st with a +12 finish (228). Song shot 75 (+3) in rounds two and three for her best rounds of the tournament.

Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden) finished T52nd, shooting 74 (+2) in round two for her best round, followed by Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) tied for 72nd and Linette Chua (Singapore) tied for 81st.

The Redhawks were in 10th place after rounds one and two and were able to move up a place to finish ninth, shooting their best team round in round two (300). As a team, they shot 909 (+45) over the three-round tournament. Idaho used consistency to earn first place honors, shooting 291 in all three rounds to finish with 873 (+9) as a team.

Seattle U returns to action next week at Montana State’s Bobcat Spring Invitational at the Golf Course of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz. The WAC women’s golf tournament takes place at Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club in Blaine, Wash. from Friday, Apr. 22-Sunday, Apr. 24.
