Seattle University women’s rowing competed at the Husky Open Saturday morning, finishing on the historic and beautiful Montlake Cut, as the varsity 8+ finished second and the novice 8+ finished third.

“I thought the varsity had a great race this morning,” said head coach Jenny Park. “We’ve had a lot of improvements in the last week. The novices learned a lot today and are looking forward to making some changes this week. We’re looking forward to the Covered Bridge Regatta next week.”

The Redhawks’ varsity 8+ finished second just behind Washington and ahead of Lewis & Clark and Puget Sound, crossing the finish line with a time of 7:08.813. Earlier in the morning, the novice 8+ finished third behind Washington and Western Washington.

Next weekend, SU will compete at the Covered Bridge Regatta on Dexter Lake in Eugene, Ore., a race both boats won in 2015.
