Thanks to its best round of the tournament, the Seattle University women’s golf team moved up into a tie for seventh place as play concluded Tuesday at the Sacramento State Invitational, held at the Sierra View Country Club.
Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) shot 77 (+5) for the second straight round, finishing in a tie for 12th place with a three-round total of 228 (+12). Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) also shot 77 (+5) to end up right behind Addicks in the standings, finishing in a tie for 15th place at 229 (+13).
Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) collected two birdies and 12 pars as she posted her best score of the tournament, shooting 75 (+3) in the final round to move up into a tie for 23rd place at 231 (+15). Yen Ting Wong (Singapore) continued her improvement with a final round 76 (+4) that included one birdie and 12 pars to advance into a tie for 54th place at 242 (+26). Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden) stayed in a tie for 64th place at 246 (+30) after shooting 82 (+10) in the third round.
As a team, Seattle U combined for a third round score of 305 (+17) to move up into a tie for seventh place in the final standings with Cal State Northridge at 924 (+60). San Francisco posted the best single-round score of the tournament (295) to cruise to an 18-stroke victory over Nevada at 889 (+25), with the Dons’ Vanessa Ha winning a playoff over Amanda Myers of Northern Colorado on the second sudden death hole for medalist honors after both players finished at 220 (+4).
Seattle University will begin a busy April at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic April 4-5 at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz. After competing in the Bobcat Spring Invitational hosted by Montana State University the next week in Goodyear, Ariz., the Redhawks will head north to Blaine, Wash., for the 2016 Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships at the Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club April 22-24.
