Battling rainy conditions, especially during the afternoon round, the Seattle University women’s golf team ended the first day of the Sacramento State Invitational in eighth place Monday at the Sierra View Country Club.

Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) earned four birdies in the first round to shoot 74 (+2), and then she picked up two birdies on the back nine for a second round 77 (+5), ending the day in a tie for eighth place at 151 (+7). Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) finished the morning round with a 73 (+1) thanks to two birdies and 13 pars, but she slipped a little bit in the afternoon with a 79 (+7) to complete the day in a tie for 13th place at 152 (+8).

Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) fought through the entire day, collecting four birdies during a first round 78 (+6), and then recovering from a bad hole early in the second round with three birdies for another 78 to end up in a tie for 34th place at 156 (+12). Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden) posted rounds of 81 (+9) and 83 (+11) for a two-round total of 164 (+20), ending in a tie for 64th place. Yen Ting Wong (Singapore) rebounded from a first round 87 (+15) to a second round 79 (+7) to move into 70th place at 166 (+22).

As a team, Seattle U shot 306 (+18) in the first round and 313 (+25) in the second round to complete the first day in eighth place with a 36-hole total of 619 (+43). San Francisco pulled out to a seven-stroke lead over Santa Clara in the team standings, with Alison Lillie of the Dons holding a one-stroke lead over teammate Vanessa Ha in the individual standings.

The third round is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, with Seattle U golfers teeing off from the first hole in the first five groups.
