The Redhawks (10-14) scored a run in the seventh, but left the bases loaded after giving up six runs, falling 6-1 to Cal Poly (16-6) on day two in San Diego.

Cal Poly used a balanced attack, scoring a run apiece in four of the first five innings to take a 4-0 lead through five innings. Leading the Mustangs’ scoring threat, Amanda Sandoval hit an RBI double in the third before Makenna Young hit an RBI single up the middle in the fourth.

In the sixth, Young hit a two-run homer in the second at bat of the inning, bringing home Ashley Tornio, who had reached base on a double.

Seattle U scored their first run in the top of the seventh on a two-out RBI single from Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.), but a final out would end the inning and the contest.

Bouska led the Redhawks at the plate, batting 2-for-4 with an RBI.

In the circle, Andie Larkins (Tucson, Ariz.) was handed the loss in the four inning outing. Sierra Hyland picked up the win in the start for Cal Poly, striking out 10 in six innings.

On Sunday, Mar. 20, the Redhawks close the weekend in San Diego vs. Illinois (9 am) and San Jose State (11:30 am).
