Seattle U Travels to San Diego State
After being able to complete only two of seven games scheduled for last week, the Redhawks head to sunnier skies in San Diego, Calif. for the San Diego State Classic II (Mar. 18-20). Seattle U will play two games on Friday, a single game Saturday, and two on Sunday. Scouting Princeton (3-10)
The Tigers are on a two-weekend west coast swing as they competed at last weekend’s Long Beach State Tournament and have games vs. CSU Fullerton and LMU mid this week before the SDSU tournament this weekend. Prior to Princeton’s doubleheader at LMU scheduled for Wed 3/16, they have lost four straight with their last win coming at Hampton, 12-1, on Feb. 28. Four Tigers have an above-.300 batting average, led by Kylee Pierce (.357, 4 runs, 5 hits, 2 RBI). In the circle, Ashley LaGuardia has a team-low 2.68 ERA.

Scouting San Diego (9-15)
The Toreros make their second trip of the season to nearby San Diego State after the Campbell/Cartier Classic the second weekend of the season. San Diego has faced five ranked opponents thus far this season, including #9/11 Texas A&M, #18/19 Kentucky, #20/22 Arizona State, #22/25 Cal and #24/RV Oregon State against which they are 0-5. San Diego hosts Yale on Wed 3/16 before this weekend’s tournament with their last win coming vs. Toledo on Mar. 11. Olivia Sandusky leads the team at the plate (.394, 18 runs, 4 2B, 4 HR, 16 RBI) while both members of the pitching staff have an ERA over 4.00.

Scouting Cal Poly (15-6)
Before two recent losses to Florida State and Weber State in early March, the Mustangs had won eight straight and have won 10 of their last 12 games going into this weekend. A double threat, Sierra Hyland is by far the team’s leader at the plate, batting .438 (11 runs, 28 hits, 6 2B, 3 HR, 19 RBI) as well as the team’s best pitcher, with a 1.63 ERA, 9-3 record, and four shutouts.

Scouting Illinois (14-7)
Illinois has won seven of their last eight, including winning four of five at last weekend’s Under Armour Invitational at Clearwater hosted by USF in Tampa, Fla. and a doubleheader sweep at home over IUPUI on Mar. 15. Among starters, Kylie Johnson leads the Fighting Illini at the plate (.379, 10 runs, 22 hits, 2 2B, 5 RBI) while Jade Vecvanags has a team-low 2.41 ERA among starters (8-4 record, 7 CG, 2 shutouts).

Scouting San Jose State (6-15)
San Jose State hosts Colgate in a doubleheader on Thurs. 3/17 before traveling to San Diego and have lost four of their last five, defeating Northwestern on Mar. 5 in their most recent game to finish after a pair of games vs. Oregon and Sacramento State scheduled for Mar. 11 were cancelled. Jessica Madrid is batting a team-high .393 (11 runs, 5 2B, 4 RBI) while, in the circle, both starting pitchers have an ERA above 6.00.
