After dropping the doubles point, Seattle University men’s tennis (7-10) regained the lead and, after Pacific (Ore. (9-2) tied the match, Matt Alderson (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) would earn the match point en route to a 4-3 Redhawk victory.

“This team has so much heart and desire,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “We lost a tough doubles point but came out determined in singles. This is a resilient group and it was another total team effort tonight. We’ve won seven of our last eight and feel good about where we are heading into conference play soon. We’ve got one more home match on Wednesday against a strong Montana State team to get ready for before starting WAC play.”

Each team taking one of the first two doubles matches to finish, Pacific’s Brennan Faith and Clark Wininger earned a 7-5 win in the No. 1 spot to clinch the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.

Michael Schoettler (Tacoma, Wash.) and Connor Leahy (Portland, Ore.) earned a pair of straight sets victories to start singles and give SU a 2-1 lead before Wininger tied the match, 2-2, with a win at No. 2 singles. John Stormans (Olympia, Wash.) bumped the Redhawks back ahead, 3-2, before Josh Bernstein tied the match once again at 3-all. Alderson would earn a 7-5, 6-2 win in the No. 5 spot to clinch the win.

Seattle U hosts Montana State at Amy Yee Tennis Center to close a five-match homestand on Wednesday, Mar. 16 at 1 p.m. before starting Western Athletic Conference play on Mar. 24-25 in Las Cruces, N.M.
