“It was a wild and interesting match today,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “We played singles first and after going up 3-0, Swarthmore came roaring back to tie the match, 3-3. We faced a pressure-packed doubles point and I’m super pleased with how the guys responded to it. We had to make some adjustments to our doubles team due to injuries, but we came out determined and with a ton of energy and aggression. We played to win and dominated doubles. It was great to see us execute so well under pressure. These guys have a lot of heart and I’m happy they were able to come through today and get a victory.”
Due to court setup, the two teams agreed to play singles first and after the Redhawks took a 3-0 lead with wins in the No. 5, No. 4, and No. 3 spots, respectively, Swarthmore would come back with three straight wins to tie the match.
Tied at 3 going into doubles play, the Redhawks were able to earn victories in each doubles match to clinch the final and deciding point.
The Redhawks are set to host Pacific (Ore.) in their fourth match of a five-match homestand on Saturday, Mar. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Tennis Center at Sand Point.
