Junior Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) has been named the Female Golfer of the Week by the Western Athletic Conference after two top-15 finishes in back-to-back tournaments over the past week, announced Wednesday by the league office.

Song opened the Red Rocks Invitational last Saturday with a first round score of 80 (+8), but she improved the next day with a 73 (+1) in the second round for a 36-hole total of 153 (+9), moving up into a tie for 13th place. She collected an eagle, two birdies, and 22 pars during the tournament to help the Redhawks finish in third place in the team standings.

As Seattle U traveled directly to the Fresno State Classic, Song put together similar rounds in the rain-shortened 36-hole tournament, earning one birdie and 14 pars as she shot 74 (+2) each day for a two-round total of 148 (+4), finishing in a tie for 12th place. She finished in a tie for second among the 82-player field with 28 pars, and she tied for seventh in par-three scoring at even par.

Song continues to lead Seattle U with a 75.84 scoring average this season. She has now finished in the top 15 in five of the last six tournaments she has competed in. This is the second time she has been honored by the conference office this year, previously receiving WAC Female Golfer of the Month recognition in September.

The Seattle University women’s golf team heads to Roseville, Calif., for the Sacramento State Invitational March 21-22 at the Sierra View Country Club.
