The Seattle University women’s golf team combined for the lowest score of the second round, enabling the Redhawks to finish the Red Rocks Invitational, hosted by Northern Arizona University, in third place as play concluded Sunday at the Oakcreek Country Club.

Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) tied for the low round of the day, shooting even-par 72 to finish the tournament in a tie for fifth place at 148 (+4). Huo led the field with 28 pars and was tied for third place in par-four scoring at 4.15 (+3).

Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) finished the tournament in eighth place with a 36-hole total of 150 (+6) after shooting 74 (+2) in the second round, as she tied for the tournament lead in par-five scoring at 4.63 (-3). Linette Chua (Singapore) also finished in the top 10, shooting 75 (+3) in the final round for a two-day total of 151 (+7), good enough for a tie for ninth place.

Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) moved up into a tie for 13th place thanks to a second round 73 (+1), finishing at 153 (+9) that included one of four eagles that were obtained during the tournament. Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden) finished in a tie for 20th place with a two-round total of 156 (+12) after shooting 79 (+7) in the second round.

As a team, Seattle U was the only squad to break 300 in Sunday’s round, shooting 294 (+6) to move up into third place in the final standings at 599 (+23), just four strokes behind tournament champion South Dakota State and one stroke behind runner-up UC Riverside. Jakeishya Le of UC Riverside pulled ahead to earn medalist honors at 145 (+1), one stroke in front of Taylor Viquelia of Southern Utah.

Seattle University immediately headed to its next competition, the Fresno State Classic, to be held at the San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, Calif. The tournament will begin Monday, March 7, with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, and the Redhawks will tee off from holes five through eight.
