Seattle U Co-Hosts Tourney with UW
Seattle University softball is set to co-host a spring tournament with the University of Washington this weekend, with the schedule being split between Logan Field and nearby Husky Softball Stadium. The Redhawks are scheduled to host five games in which they will appear as well as two neutral site games (Bradley/Montana @ 6 pm Saturday and Kent State/Bradley @ 9 am Sunday). Scouting Bradley (4-11)
The Redhawks’ first game (and win) of the season came vs. the Braves at Arizona State’s Kajikawa Classic, a 9-0 five-inning victory for Seattle U on Feb. 12. Kelly Kapp is batting a team-high .592 (29-for-49) at the plate while, in the circle, Jaelen Hull has posted a team-low 3.67 ERA and a 1-4 record in six starts.
Scouting Montana (6-9)
Montana won three of five on opening weekend but most recently suffered a five-game losing skid before snapping the streak with a 4-3 victory at Grand Canyon to close last weekend (Feb. 28). Sudney Stites is batting a team-high .392 (20-for-51) and Sara Stephenson leads the pitching staff with a team-low 3.80 ERA (3-2 record in 10 appearances, four starts, three complete games).
Scouting Pacific (7-8)
Pacific has faced two ranked opponents and picked up an impressive win at No. 3 LSU, 2-1, on Feb. 13 but have dropped five of their last seven. Sydney Lahners leads the team at the plate (.629, 13-for-35) while, in the circle, Cassidy Gustafson has a team-low 2.72 ERA with a 3-1 record in five starts.
Scouting Boise State (3-12)
Boise State picked up their first three wins of the season last weekend vs. LMU, NM State, and Stanford after dropping their first 11 contests to start the season. Izzy Serrano leads the teama at the plate, batting .367 (11-for-30) while, in the circle, Jenna Bassler has a team-low 3.65 ERA.
WAC Returns to Emerald City
Seattle University will play host to the 2016 Western Athletic Conference tournament in May (12-14) for the second time in three seasons. The Redhawks last hosted the tournament in 2014, a tournament which featured an eight-hour rain delay on day one.
