Seattle University softball’s Andie Larkins (Tucson, Ariz.) has been named Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, marking the Redhawks’ first league honor this season, for the week of Feb. 22-28.

“Andie is a work horse and has worked well with Coach [Mariah] Dawson on developing all her pitches and location,” said head coach Geoff Hirai.

The freshman earned the decision in both Redhawk wins over the weekend, going 2-1 with a 1.33 ERA and nine strikeouts in 21 innings pitched. Larkins struck out six, second highest tally of her career, in a win vs. host Sat. Mary’s on Feb. 28 and held opponents to just a .241 batting average in three appearances. She has earned the decision in all five Seattle U wins thus far in 2016.

Seattle U is scheduled to open their home schedule this weekend (Mar. 4-6) hosting seven games, including five games in which the Redhawks are slated to appear. The Redhawks host Montana (3:45 pm) and Bradley (6 pm) on Friday, Pacific (1:30 pm) and Boise State (3:45 pm) on Saturday, and Boise State (11:15 am) on Sunday. SU also hosts two neutral site matches, Bradley vs. Montana at 6 p.m. on Saturday and Kent State vs. Bradley at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
