Game 1: Saint Mary’s 5, Seattle U 1
Saint Mary’s scored two in the third inning on a two-RBI homer by Andrea Hazel after leaving two on base in the first and would take a 3-0 lead through four after Katelyn Mamizuka scored on a defensive miscue.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Redhawks recorded three hits as Rose Saenz (San Gabriel, Calif.) scored on a St. Mary’s throwing error to pull within two, 3-1.
Giana Bilotta was able to drive home two more runs for insurance on an RBI single in the sixth to lead the Gaels, 5-1, to victory.
In the circle, Lindsay Davis (Palo Cedro, Calif.) suffered the loss, giving up the first three runs while walking one and striking out three in four innings pitched before Alyssa Reuble (Lynnwood, Wash.) entered in relief. The Gaels’ Lujane Mussadi picked up the complete game win, walking one and striking out four.
Game 2: Sacramento State 3, Seattle U 2
Sacramento State took an early 2-0 lead in the second on a Jessica Ravetti two-RBI single before Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.) pulled the Redhawks within one, 2-1, on a RBI base hit in the bottom of the frame.
Two innings later, Bouska would score Breanna Timmons (Santa Maria, Calif.) to tie the game, 2-2, after Timmons reached base on a leadoff triple.
Sacramento State would earn the closely contested victory in the seventh as they squeezed home the winning run on a two-out throwing error to win, 3-2.
Andie Larkins (Tucson, Ariz.) pitched the complete game for the Redhawks, walking four and striking out one while Sacramento State used three different members of the pitching staff in the circle with Celina Matthias picking up the win in three relief innings.
