SENIOR NIGHT: Seattle University closes the home schedule for the 2015-16 regular season against Utah Valley University Saturday night. Before the game, seniors Jack Crook and Deshaun Sunderhaus will be honored for their contributions to the Redhawk basketball program. Once the ball is tipped, the Redhawks and the Wolverines will be battling for fourth place in the WAC standings and the third seed in the upcoming WAC Tournament. A Seattle U victory guarantees the Redhawks that third seed, as they will have the sweep over Utah Valley as the tiebreaker should it be needed. A Utah Valley win gives the Wolverines the inside track to the third seed, but Seattle U would still be alive for that position on the final weekend.
WAC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT: All-session passes are still available for the WAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament, taking place at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 9-12. These passes cost $125 per ticket, and the seats are located in Section 104 of the Orleans Arena, close to the action. To purchase tickets online, visit www.GoSeattleU.com/sutickets, click on Men’s Basketball or Women’s Basketball, and then click on the link for the 2016 WAC Basketball Tournament. As of right now, three of the seeds have already been determined (#1 New Mexico State, #2 CSU Bakersfield, #7 Chicago State). Seattle U and Utah Valley are battling for the third seed, with the loser of that battle taking the fourth seed. The fifth and sixth seeds will be determined over the next two weeks between Missouri-Kansas City and UT Rio Grande Valley.
SCOUTING UTAH VALLEY: The Wolverines enter Saturday’s game with a 12-15 overall record, including a 6-6 mark within the Western Athletic Conference after sweeping Chicago State (74-72) and Missouri-Kansas City (79-70) last weekend at home. Utah Valley is scoring 76.1 points per game and allowing 78.6 points per contest. As a team, the Wolverines are shooting 42.7 percent from the field, including 35.1 percent from behind the three-point line, and 73.0 percent from the free throw line. The three players who have started every game for the Wolverines are the top three scorers, led by Jaden Jackson at 14.6 points per game. Konner Frey, the reigning WAC Player of the Week, is averaging 14.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while Marcel Davis is contributing 14.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.96 assists per game.
