Seattle University softball (2-4) trailed late but mounted a comeback to earn a 3-2 win vs. Idaho State (0-6) on a walk-off sacrifice fly.

“It was a good comeback win for us,” said head coach Geoff Hirai. “It took everyone on the team to pull this win out.”

Through four scoreless innings, the Redhawks left three on base but were able to strand eight Bengals on base.

Idaho State took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth on an RBI single from Ashlyn Ames and a two-out double from Ashley Morris, scoring Maddy Hickman and Aubrey Creekmore, both pinch runners.

The Bengals still leading by a pair of runs heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Redhawks tied the tally as Marcella Kay (San Jose, Calif.) hit a two-out two-RBI base hit to left field to bring Maddy Kristjanson (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) and Izzy Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.), who opened the inning with back-to-back hits.

After a three-and-out for Idaho State in the top of the seventh, Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.) and Kaylee Ree (Gresham, Ore.) opened the bottom of the frame with back-to-back base hits and Bouska would come around the score the walk-off game-winner on a Kristjanson sacrifice fly.

Andie Larkins (Tucson, Ariz.) picked up her second career win in the circle, walking and striking out two in the complete game outing while Ames suffered the loss for Idaho State, giving up the winning run in 2/3 relief innings pitched.

The Redhawks continue weekend action in Santa Clara versus CSU Fullerton at 10 a.m. and Santa Clara at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
