Seattle University head volleyball coach James Finley has announced that Kahle Elliott (Austin, Texas) signed an athletic aid agreement and Kory White (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) signed a National Letter of Intent during the recent November signing period to attend the school and join the Redhawk volleyball program.
Elliott, a 6’3” outside hitter, completed her senior season at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy this past fall by helping the Crusaders post a 21-6 overall record and win the district title. A three-time team captain, Elliott was named team MVP twice and the coach’s MVP this past season, plus she earned All-District and All-State honors three times apiece. She recovered from a major knee injury suffered in 2014 to average three kills and 2.7 digs per set in 2015. Her mother and high school coach Sarah Silvernail was a two-time All-American and 1996 Pac-10 Player of the Year at Washington State, while her father Jerritt Elliott is the current head volleyball coach at the University of Texas.
"Kahle is a strong six-rotation player who has a great eye for the game. She will help us in serve receive and defensively in addition to bringing a strong offensive attack and block in the front row,” Finley said. “Kahle is a well-rounded student with good leadership training and will hit the ground running as she is a great fit for the Seattle University community."
White is a 6’0” middle blocker currently attending Strathcona High School, where she was named Best Offensive Player in 2013 and helped her volleyball team earn a bronze medal at the provincial championships this past season. She is a two-sport athlete, also competing on the track and field team where she is one of the best jumpers in the country. She has broken the city record in the triple jump three separate times as well as in the high jump earlier this year. Since 2012, she has accumulated 57 medals and four athletic achievement awards competing at the city, provincial, regional, and national levels. White has also earned the Academic Honors Award in each of her three completed years of high school.
"Kory brings a new level of athleticism to our program. She is very dynamic, quick and explosive. She has the ability to score often and will present a big block against our opponents,” said Finley. “Kory will continue to grow quickly and will jump for the Redhawk track team as well. Kory is a hard worker who is focused on being her best while helping her team excel."
Elliott will graduate from St. Michael’s Catholic Academy early and plans to enroll at Seattle University in January 2016, joining the Redhawk volleyball team in time for its spring season. White is on track to graduate from Strathcona High School next spring before coming to Seattle U in August 2016.
Seattle University finished the 2015 season with an 18-11 overall record, tied for the second-most victories in a single season in program history. The Redhawks finished in a tie for third place in the Western Athletic Conference regular season standings with a 9-5 league record and qualified for the WAC Volleyball Tournament for the third straight year.
