Seattle University head swimming coach Craig Nisgor has announced that Luke Christensen (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Greg Raper (Austin, Texas) completed National Letters of Intent during the recent November signing period to attend the school and join the Redhawk swim program starting in the 2016-17 academic year.
Christensen is a 6’1” distance freestyle swimmer currently attending Parkway West High School, where he has been the team captain for the Longhorns in each of the past two seasons. He earned All-State honors in both his junior and senior years in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. An honor roll student throughout his high school career, Christensen has also competed for the Parkway Swim Club for the past 12 years.
Raper is a 5’7” swimmer who competes in the sprint freestyle and butterfly events at Westwood High School, where he is part of the school record in the 400 freestyle relay. He has also been a major part of the 200 medley relay squad that has advanced to district, regional, and state championships over the past two years. A member of Cedar Park Swimming and Waterloo Swimming since 2009, he was a qualifier in the Speedo Zone Sectional Championships for both short course and long course in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly.
“Luke and Greg are going to be great additions to our team next year. They both have been improving at a rapid rate and it seems that every time they race they are getting faster in everything they swim,” Nisgor said. “Both of them fit in very well with our team as they have the same values and work ethic that we have built here with Seattle U swimming. We are excited to watch their continued progression this year and even more excited to know that they will be Redhawks next season!”
Members of the Seattle University men’s swim team will head to Federal Way, Wash., this weekend for the AT&T Winter National Championships, while their dual meet season resumes in January with back-to-back meets at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash.
