Seattle University athletics director Bill Hogan announces the addition of a new staff member to the department as well as the promotion of two staff members. Dan Scheid joins the Redhawk staff as Eligibility Coordinator while Matt Bussman and Alex Keough received promotions.

Scheid joined the Seattle U athletics department in fall 2015 after serving as assistant director and director of compliance at Northern Colorado since 2011. Previously, Scheid was a graduate assistant in athletics compliance at Central Florida where he created monthly newsletters for student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff. He also worked on initial eligibility paperwork, coach’s logs, official visits, and expense forms. Scheid graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Dakota State in 2003 and received his master’s degree in education from Central Florida in May 2011.

Bussman was promoted to assistant athletics director for sports medicine after serving seven years as head athletics trainer, coordinating all aspects of the athletic training and sports medicine program. He came to Seattle U in July 2008 from Johns Hopkins University where he was the associate athletic trainer. From 2000-2005, Bussman was an intern athletic trainer for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. He received his undergraduate degree in physical education/athletic training at Eastern Washington and owns a Master’s of Education in Sports Administration at Belmont University in Nashville.

Keough was promoted to senior coordinator of strength and conditioning, working directly with the men’s basketball, softball, and men’s and women’s golf teams. He previously served as a part-time assistant, graduate assistant, and graduate intern at Seattle U from 2009-12. He also previously completed a professional internship at Montana, interned with Washington men’s basketball, and worked at End Zone Athletics in Kirkland. Keough holds two master’s degrees – one in Sports Administration and Leadership from Seattle University and one in exercise science from California University of Pennsylvania. He played goalkeeper and completed his undergraduate studies at University of California Riverside.
