Several student-athletes and staff from Seattle University athletics volunteered this week in delivering gifts to Seattle community members through Seattle U’s annual Giving Tree organized by the Center for Service and Community Engagement (CCE). The CCE connects classroom, campus, and community to promote a more just and humane world at Seattle U.

The group of volunteers delivered gifts donated by Seattle University community members to Full Life, Childhaven, and the Youth Detention Center. Full Life is an adult daycare with locations scattered across Seattle while Childhaven is a national leader in caring for abused and neglected children.

Participating volunteers included staff members Erin Engelhardt, Erin Karner, Chelsea Herman, Darrin Carlson, Annie Sittauer, and Dan Scheid and women’s swimming’s Jane Liggett.

This volunteer opportunity, one of many that Redhawk student-athletes and staff participate in throughout the year, supports the Seattle U Athletics Department mission statement which is “to champion the holistic development of student-athletes inspiring a vital and engaged campus community through the development and maintenance of a premier, nationally prominent NCAA Division I athletics program, in the spirit of the Jesuit tradition.”
