“We are very excited to announce the signing of two new players to the Seattle University women’s basketball team,” says Bonvicini. “Both of these players are what Seattle University looks for in our student-athletes – smart, confident leaders on and off the court. We welcome both Blaire and Kyra to the Seattle U family.”
Braxton is a three-season varsity letterwinner and served as a co-captain for her high school team in 2014-15. She was a member of the State Great Eight Team in 2014-15, also named Second Team All-League Continental during her junior campaign.
Bonvicini on Braxton: “Blaire Braxton is a versatile power forward from Highlands Ranch, Colo. She is a winner and hails from an outstanding high school program at Highlands Ranch High School. She is a smart high-post scorer who can also power underneath the hoop. She will add depth and size to our front court. Blaire is an honors student and will be a great addition to our team and university.”
Hamlin was recently named First Team All-CIF, leading her team to a CIF championship. She also was named Bay League Player of the Year, averaging 12 points per game and eight rebounds per game.
Bonvicini on Hamlin: “Kyra Hamlin is an outstanding forward and athlete from another perennially winning program at Redondo Beach High School in Southern California. She is an excellent scorer and rebounder and will add athleticism and versatility to our team.”
The Redhawks open their 2015-16 campaign on Friday, Nov. 13 at 4:30 pm vs. Montana State at KeyArena and will also face Washington in Seattle on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
The team is set to play their first games in the newly renovated Connolly Complex in mid-December with the grand opening scheduled in conjunction with the annual Women in Leadership game in late January. Stay tuned to GoSeattleU.com for all the latest updates throughout the season.
