BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Seattle University women’s soccer (11-2-3, 6-0-2 WAC) scored midway through the first half, adding a second goal for insurance in the second half, sailing to a 2-0 victory over CSU Bakersfield (5-10-2, 3-4-1 WAC). “Once again I am very happy we continue to play so well defensively,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “I was also extremely pleased with how the team played in the second half. Hunter Mar had a pretty tremendous game for us tonight and provided a huge spark, not to mention a great goal.”

In the 37th minute, Emily Zimmer (San Marcos, Calif.) made a long pass in to Hope Fleckner (Tacoma, Wash.) in front of the goal, who made a one-touch pass to Julia Moravec (Spokane, Wash.) for the game-winner.

Holding a 1-0 lead through halftime, at the 68-minute mark added the Redhawks’ second goal of the match as Summer Mason (Carlsbad, Calif.) made a cross into the box to Hunter Mar (Kent, Wash.) for the goal from two yards out.

SU outshot CSUB, 10-4, including 6-4 on goal, led by Moravec and Karli White (North Bend, Wash.) with three shots apiece.
