The Seattle University women’s golf team tackled one of the most famous golf courses in the United States, ending Tuesday in 13th place after two rounds of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington at the Sahalee Country Club.
Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) once again led the Redhawks, earning 15 pars in the morning round as she shot 75 (+3), and then collecting two birdies and 13 pars on her way to a second-round 73 (+1), ending the day in a tie for 13th place at 148 (+4). Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) got off to a good start in the first round with three birdies over a six-hole stretch, but after finishing the opening round with a 75 (+3), she shot 79 (+7) in the second round despite three more birdies to end up in a tie for 40th place at 154 (+10).
Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) birdied the second hole in each round as she posted scores of 77 (+5) and 81 (+9) to finish the day in a tie for 54th place at 158 (+14). Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and Yen Ting Wong (Singapore) are currently tied for 64th place at 164 (+20), with Brantberg shooting rounds of 81 (+9) and 83 (+11) and Wong posting scores of 78 (+6) and 86 (+14). Playing as an individual, Juhee Lee (Wilsonville, Ore.) shot back-to-back rounds of 84 (+12) to end up in 69th place at 168 (+24).
Seattle U found itself in ninth place after the first round with a score of 305 (+17), but a second round 316 (+28) sent the Redhawks down to 13th place with a two-round total of 621 (+45). California holds a 10-stroke lead over San Diego State in the team standings, while Gonzaga’s Bianca Pagdanganan leads California’s Lucia Gutierrez by one stroke in the individual standings.
The third and final round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, with golfers teeing off from the first and 10th holes every nine minutes. Seattle U golfers will begin from the 10th hole at 9:15 a.m. (Brantberg and Wong), 9:24 a.m. (Huo and Addicks), and 9:33 a.m. (Song and Lee).
