Seattle University was one of just 211 schools across the nation to have both their men’s and women’s soccer teams awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for 2014-15. This is the fifth straight such honor for the women’s soccer team while this is the second consecutive for men’s soccer.

The women’s soccer team posted a 3.53 cumulative GPA as one of 554 women’s teams to post a 3.0 or higher team grade point average (GPA) while the men’s team recorded a 3.09 cumulative GPA as one of 305 men’s teams for the 2014-15 academic year.

The Seattle U men finish their non-conference slate this week, hosting No. 10 Washington on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. before traveling to No. 13 Oregon State on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. The Redhawks recorded shutouts in four of their first six matches to start 2015 while, most recently, earning wins over the Ivy League’s Harvard and Dartmouth. Thursday’s match will be on the WAC Digital Network while Sunday’s match will be on the Pac-12 Network Oregon.

The Redhawk women’s soccer team has also made a strong start in 2015, earning wins over Pac-12 foe, Oregon, on their opening weekend, also defeating the SEC’s Vanderbilt on Aug. 30. The win vs. the Commodores started their current five-game undefeated streak with additional wins over Purdue, Creighton, and Gonzaga. SU starts conference play this weekend at Utah Valley on Saturday, Sept. 26, a match which will be broadcast on the WAC Digital Network.
