Seattle University women’s soccer (5-2-1) and Idaho (4-4-1) each had opportunities throughout the contest but neither could find the back of the net as the two teams played to a scoreless draw as the Redhawks closed non-conference play.   “Today was a bit of a frustrating game,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “I thought Idaho was very well-prepared and showed that by having a very good first half. I think it was a good lesson for us to learn heading into conference play – you have to be ready for each game and be willing and able to execute the game plan. On the positive side, it was nice for our defense and Brianna Smallidge to get another shutout.”   The Redhawks took the first four shots in the first 10 minutes of the contest, earning four corner kicks in the same span. SU finished the first half with a shot and corner kick by Jennifer Plummer (Highlands Ranch, Colo.).   SU finished regulation with three shots in the final 10 minutes, earning three more corner kicks.   Each team took just one shot apiece in the first overtime while the Redhawks led the shot tally, 4-1, in the second overtime.   Much like the score, shots were even through the game, 16-16, as Summer Mason (Carlsbad, Calif.) led all players on the field with five shots.   In goal, Brianna Smallidge (Port Orchard, Wash.) earned a shutout in goal, making eight saves, for the Redhawks while, for Idaho, Amanda Poertner made seven saves in the complete game outing.   The Redhawks open Western Athletic Conference play next Saturday, Sept. 26 at Utah Valley.
