“I am very proud of Nathan because he’s done a fantastic job,” said head coach Pete Fewing. “He earned a starting spot at center back as a freshman and that is not easy. We have given up only three goals and he is learning every week which is really fun to watch. He and Kyle Bjornethun have a great partnership. He’s really competitive and to see him having the kind of success he’s having is great.”
Aune started both contests and played all 180 minutes in the team’s pair of victories over Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend. He played a key role in the 2-0 shutout vs. Harvard, which marked the Redhawks’ fourth shutout in their first six games on Friday. On Sunday, in a 2-1 win over Dartmouth, he helped shut down the Big Green offense to allow a late Seattle U comeback.
Incarnate Word’s Noah Keats was named Offensive Player of the Week after recording his first career hat trick in an 8-1 win over Central Arkansas.
The Redhawks host the No. 9 Washington Huskies in the annual crosstown showdown on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m., a match will be broadcast on the WAC Digital Network. Seattle U continues the Pac-12 slate and closes both the weekend and non-conference play at Oregon State on Sunday, Sept. 27, a match which will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network Oregon.
