CHENEY, Wash. – Seattle University men’s tennis started the 2015 competition season at the Eastern Washington Fall Classic where several Redhawks had individual victories as well as significant doubles wins.

“We had a solid weekend overall and there were a lot of highlights including John Stormans and Connor Leahy finishing fourth in the doubles draw and Jeremiah Kalmus reaching the semifinals of his singles draw,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “Matt Alderson also had some impressive singles wins on Saturday. We competed hard as a team and I’m proud of the guys’ efforts. Each player has pinpointed some areas he needs to continue to work on after this weekend’s event, so we’re excited to get back out on the practice court, work on those things, and get ready for another great event in Boise.”

Matt Alderson (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) advanced to the finals of the red singles consolation bracket with wins versus Eastern Washington’s Victor Pereira, 2-6, 6-4, 10-7, as well as the Eagles’ Vuk Vuckovic, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5.

In doubles action, John Stormans (Olympia, Wash.) and Connor Leahy (Portland, Ore.) also earned victories over Idaho’s Coutinho/Shin, 8-4 and EWU’s Dula/Pereira, 8-3, finishing fourth in the doubles draw.
