HADDADI TIES WAC SCORING RECORD
Senior forward Hamza Haddadi scored four goals, three on PK’s all in the first half, in the Redhawks’ 6-0 season-opening win vs. UC Davis. His goal total tied the Western Athletic Conference record for individual goals in a match set by New Mexico’s Justin Sells in 1996.

SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN
Northwestern has made four straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament as well as eight of the last nine years (missed 2010 tournament). Head coach Tim Lenahan, in his 15th season at the helm, led NU to a 9-4-6 record (4-1-3 in Big 10 play, 2nd place). The 2015 version of the ‘Cats return 16 letterwinners as well as seven starters and welcome eight newcomers to the squad. To start 2015, the Wildcats battled Colgate to a 1-1 draw in their regular season opener on Aug. 29 on a Jeffrey Hopson goal. This will be the first all-time meeting between Northwestern and Seattle University in men’s soccer.

SCOUTING CAL POLY
Head coach Steve Sampson is in his first season as the leader of the Mustangs after Cal Poly missed the 2014 Big West Conference tournament (8-7-4 overall record, 3-5-2 BWC record). The Mustangs return eight field players and all three goalkeepers, as well as 14 letterwinners. Last weekend, Cal Poly defeated UNLV at home on Friday, Aug. 28, 2-1, to open the season on a pair of goals from Matt LaGrassa. The Redhawks are 2-0 versus Cal Poly since returning to Division I, defeating the Mustangs, 2-1 (2OT), in San Luis Obispo on Sept. 4, 2011 before winning the season home opener, 1-0, on Aug. 24, 2012.

For all home games, single game tickets can be purchased online (Ticketmaster), by phone (206-398-GOSU), at the SU Ticket Office (1218 E Cherry), or starting 60 minutes prior to kickoff at the NE entrance to Championship Field. BEST OF THE WEST
To end the 2014 regular season, in the Nov. 11 edition of the NSCAA/Continental Tire Men’s Soccer West Regional rankings, four of the top 10 teams were members of the Western Athletic Conference. Seattle U was ranked second while UNLV (1st), Utah Valley (7th), and Bakersfield (9th) rounded out the top 10. The first West Regional ranking of 2015 will be on Sept. 8.

REDHAWKS PICKED TO WIN WAC
Seattle U was picked to win the 2015 WAC title in the league’s coaches’ preseason vote. Kyle Bjornethun was named WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year while Hamza Haddadi and Shane Haworth also joined Bjornethun on the Preseason All-Conference team.

NATIONALLY RANKED REDHAWKS
In 2014, Seattle U earned the program’s first two Division I national rankings since reclassification in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Top 25. On Sept. 2, the Redhawks were ranked No. 22 and on Sept. 30, they were ranked No. 24.
