“I am very excited for this coming season,” Park says. “The program continues to develop and grow and most of last year’s V8+ and N8+ are returning, so I am eager to continue building on last year’s successes.”
The Redhawks open the year with two fall dates, starting with the Portland Fall Classic on Nov. 1 followed by the Head of the Lake on Nov. 8 in Seattle.
The spring season commences with the Daffodil Sprints on American Lake in Lakewood, Wash. on Mar. 26, which the SU novice 8+ won in 2014.
Fans and supporters will have their first chance to see the Redhawks in Seattle on Apr. 2 for the Husky Open on Lake Washington before the team travels to Eugene, Ore. for the Covered Bridge Regatta on Apr. 9. In 2015, both the Seattle U varsity 8+ and novice 8+ earned victories in Eugene.
The annual SUUP duel between Seattle U and Portland will take place on Apr. 16 on Vancouver Lake in Vancouver, Wash.
To close April and open the month of May (Apr. 30-May 1), Seattle U will make their annual trip to the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championship on Lake Natoma in Rancho Cordova, Calif.
The following weekend, SU returns home for their final appearance of the season in the Emerald City on May 7 as part of the Opening Day Regatta/Windermere Cup festivities on the Montlake Cut. An exciting annual event, the morning’s races are followed by a boat parade, which ushers in the first day of boating season in Seattle.
This season, Seattle U will close the season with a return trip to Rancho Cordova, Calif. for the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships (PCRC) on Lake Natoma on May 15.
