SCOUTING UC DAVIS
After opening the season at Championship Field, UC Davis will face Washington on Sunday to close their Pacific Northwest season-opening road trip. Over the following two weeks, the Aggies will face two of the Redhawks’ WAC men’s soccer foes in CSU Bakersfield to open September and San Jose State mid-month. UC Davis also returns 14 letterwinners on top of seven starters welcoming eight newcomers to the 2015 squad.  The Aggies return one of two leading goal scorers in Lucas Mohageg (4 goals, 2 assists, 10 points) and return both keepers including starter Armando Quezada (13 games, 12 starts, 0.75 GAA, 44 saves, .815 save pct.). The Aggies and Redhawks have met three different times (2010, 2011, 2013) and have a 1-1-1 all-time record with a Redhawk win, tie, and loss, in the three meetings, respectively. The last meeting was in Davis on Sept. 6, 2013, a 1-0 Aggie win.

SCOUTING GONZAGA
The Bulldogs return 14 letterwinners and eight starters including three of six leading scorers and starting keeper Chris Lowrimore who made 11 starts in 13 appearances and recorded a 1.95 GAA, 48 saves, a .676 save pct. and one shutout in 2014. The Redhawks and Bulldogs have several common opponents this season including Washington, Cal Poly, Utah Valley, Oregon State, UNLV, and Santa Clara. Seattle U will make the cross-state trip to Spokane next weekend for the Gonzaga Tournament where they will face Northwestern and Cal Poly. In 2014, Seattle U recorded their first ever victory over Gonzaga, a 1-0 victory at Championship Field on Sept. 28. Jonathan Massimino scored the game-winner less than two minutes after entering the match and the win propelled the SU to their second national ranking of the season/in program history (No. 24 in 9/30 poll).

REDHAWKS PICKED TO WIN WAC
Seattle U was picked to win the 2015 WAC title in the league’s coaches’ preseason vote. Kyle Bjornethun was named WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year while Hamza Haddadi and Shane Haworth also joined Bjornethun on the Preseason All-Conference team.

NATIONALLY RANKED REDHAWKS
In 2014, Seattle U earned the program’s first two Division I national rankings since reclassification in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Top 25. On Sept. 2, the Redhawks were ranked No. 22 and on Sept. 30, they were ranked No. 24.

To end the 2014 regular season, in the Nov. 11 edition of the NSCAA/Continental Tire Men’s Soccer West Regional rankings, four of the top 10 teams were members of the Western Athletic Conference. Seattle U was ranked second while UNLV (1st), Utah Valley (7th), and Bakersfield (9th) rounded out the top 10.
