Jack Crook (Manchester, England), a three-year member of the Seattle University men’s basketball team, has been named to the 2014-15 Honors Court by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for his exemplary performance both on the basketball court and in the classroom, announced Thursday morning by the national organization.
Crook, majoring in strategic communications within the Seattle U College of Arts and Sciences, completed the 2014-15 academic year with a 3.255 grade point average. This is the second academic honor Crook has received within the past four months, as he earned Academic All-WAC honors in April for his performance in the classroom.
As a junior, Crook started 33 of the Redhawks’ 34 games during the past season, averaging 6.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game as he shot 51.1 percent from the field. He reached double figures in points five times and in rebounds seven times, including double-doubles against Nebraska Omaha Nov. 19 (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Pacific Lutheran Dec. 1 (14 points, 12 rebounds), plus he collected nine points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in Seattle U’s 66-47 victory over Sacramento State Dec. 21.
Crook is one of 12 men’s basketball players representing the Western Athletic Conference on this year’s NABC Honors Court, with Utah Valley placing eight players, Missouri-Kansas City contributing two representatives, and University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (formerly Texas-Pan American) also placing a student-athlete among the honorees. He is also one of six student-athletes from Division I schools in the state of Washington to earn a spot on the Honors Court, joining four players from Eastern Washington and one student-athlete from Washington State.
The Seattle University men’s basketball team posted an 18-16 record during the 2014-15 season, advancing to the finals of the WAC Tournament and the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational after victories over Pepperdine and Colorado. Crook is one of nine players from last year’s roster expected to return to the Redhawk program for the 2015-16 campaign.
