After winning the Western Athletic Conference tournament two seasons ago and earning one of two crucial first round byes in last year’s tournament. Seattle University men’s soccer looks to advance to the NCAA Tournament once again with tough non-conference competition as well as a slate of both familiar and new WAC foes.

Opening the season with an exhibition at Portland, the Redhawks open the regular season at home with matches versus UC Davis (Aug. 28) and Gonzaga (Aug. 30) to close out the first month of competition.

The Redhawks face Northwestern (Sept. 3) and Cal Poly (Sept. 5) in a tournament at Gonzaga over Labor Day weekend before closing the three-game road swing at Santa Clara on Sept. 11. SU closes the month with their second of two straight Pac-12 matches, at Oregon State on Sept. 27.

Seattle U welcomes a pair of Ivy League foes to Championship Field in Harvard (Sept. 18) and Dartmouth (Sept. 20) before hosting Washington in the annual crosstown rivalry on Sept. 24, SU’s second day of classes.

October brings the start of WAC play as the Redhawks host UMKC (Oct. 2) and Air Force (Oct. 4) on opening weekend, also hosting CSU Bakersfield (Oct. 16) and San Jose State (Oct. 18) two weeks later and Incarnate Word (Nov. 1) to start November. Conference road matches include Houston Baptist (Oct. 9), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (Oct. 11), UNLV (Oct. 23), Grand Canyon (Oct. 25), and Utah Valley (Nov. 7).

The Sunday, Nov. 1 match versus Incarnate Word will serve as Senior Day while the following week at Utah Valley will be the regular season finale. Sunday, Oct. 11 brings special significance as UTRGV (formerly UTPA), brings back their men’s soccer program for the first time since the 1997 season.

This season’s WAC tournament will take place from Nov. 12-15 in Kansas City, Mo. with the winner receiving the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
