Seattle University women’s basketball head coach Joan Bonvicini announces the hiring of Sybil Dosty as an assistant coach for the program, beginning with the 2015-16 season. Her duties at Seattle U will include recruiting, scouting, and working with posts.

“I am very excited to announce the hiring of Sybil Dosty as an assistant basketball coach,” said Bonvicini. “Sybil is someone I have known for a very long time when I lived and worked in Tucson, Arizona. She is a worker, a winner, and will be an outstanding addition to our staff.”

Most recently, Dosty worked with the Arizona State women’s basketball program as a graduate assistant and video coordinator since August 2014. While at ASU, she assisted with recruiting, game preparation and management, manager staff, staff meetings, and video operations, among other duties.

Prior to ASU, she worked professionally as a trainer and team coach with the Jump Athletic Youth Basketball AAU team.

Dosty graduated with both a Bachelor’s of Communications and African-American Studies in May 2008 as well as a Master of Liberal Studies in December 2013 from Arizona State.

The 2009 Pac-10 Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, she helped lead the Sun Devils to an Elite Eight appearance the same season after playing her first two seasons at the University of Tennessee where she helped lead the volunteers to the 2005 Final Four.

“I am extremely excited to begin working with this team because they are hungry to work hard and get better,” said Dosty. “Also, I am thrilled to be joining such a great staff with one of the winningest coaches in women’s college basketball at the helm.”
