“I am extremely happy with our fall schedule,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “We will hit the ground running playing some very successful, competitive teams from impressive conferences. I really believe these types of games will help prepare us to be successful in conference play. We are looking forward to the challenge.”
After an exhbition vs. Trinity Western on Thursday, Aug. 13, the Redhawks open the 2015 season with three straight matches versus Pac-12 conference teams, none more important than the home opener vs. Washington State on Friday, Aug. 21. The game will be a rematch of last year’s NCAA Tournament First Round game, which the Redhawks won, 2-1, in double overtime. SU rounds out the weekend hosting Oregon on Sunday, Aug. 23 before the team’s annual meeting with Washington, this time at Husky Soccer Stadium on Friday, Aug. 28.
SU welcomes a Southeastern Conference team to Championship Field for the second straight season, hosting Vanderbilt on Sunday, Aug. 30 to close the month of August.
September will test the Redhawks in a new way as they will play all five games on the road as part of a total seven game road stretch (Sept. 4-Oct. 4). SU makes a short trip to Gonzaga on Friday, Sept. 4 before facing Purdue (Friday, Sept. 11) and Creighton (Sunday, Sept. 13) on the University of Montana campus. The non-conference finale will take place at Idaho on Sunday, Sept. 20.
Opening Western Athletic Conference play at Utah Valley on Saturday, Sept. 26 to close the month of September, the Redhawks will continue the road stretch at UMKC (Friday, Oct. 2) and Chicago State (Sunday, Oct. 4) the following weekend.
After a full month on the road, Seattle U will welcome University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (formerly University of Texas-Pan American) in their conference home opener on Friday, Oct. 9, closing out the weekend with New Mexico State on Sunday, Oct. 11.
The following weekend, Bakersfield (Friday, Oct. 16) and Grand Canyon (Sunday, Oct. 18) will make the trip to Championship Field before Seattle U makes a return trip to each (Bakersfield on Friday, Oct. 23, Grand Canyon on Sunday, Oct. 25) the following weekend. SU will close the regular season hosting Utah Valley on Saturday, Oct. 31 before the quest for their third straight WAC championship on Nov. 5-7 in Bakersfield, Calif.
On the national stage in 2014, Seattle U women’s soccer won the program’s first ever NCAA Division I tournament game at No. 23 Washington State in double overtime. Advancing to face No. 18 South Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., the Redhawks played the Gamecocks to a 0-0 draw but USC ultimately advanced in penalty kicks. SU will look to qualify for their third straight NCAA tournament and advance further into the field in 2015.
