“Jenny has played multiple positions for us during her career and battled through injuries,” said head coach Dan Powers. “She continues to excel on and off the field and she has always worked hard to lead her teammates by example.”
Hurst earned a spot in the starting lineup in all three games for the Redhawks vs. Bakersfield on senior weekend and has scored five runs on 16 hits, adding five doubles, one triple, and 10 RBIs during her senior campaign. She was also named to the 2015 College Sports Madness Preseason All-WAC Second Team.
Over her career, she has recorded 56 runs on 114 hits as well as 30 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, and 57 RBI. Hurst’s 30 doubles ranks in the top five, currently, in Seattle U career doubles records, with the WAC tournament still yet to play.
Also excelling academically, Hurst earned a 4.0 this past winter quarter and currently owns a 3.42 cumulative GPA.
Seattle U travels to the Western Athletic Conference tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. next week (May 7-9) as the No. 4 seed. The Redhawks will first face No. 5 Utah Valley on Thursday, May 7 at 11 a.m. MT/10 a.m. PT in the double elimination tournament.
